Sproede Outing 2019
Once again Volker and Gabi Sproede took our girls on a wonderful outing as a part of their very generous annual contribution to our school. We are very grateful and especially so the learners who benefit from their generosity. God Bless you Volker and Gabi.
The eleventh of March 2019 was a rainy wet day filled with exhilaration, confusion and pride as the Sproede family once again took us as top learners to their annual outing. We drove for nearly 45 minutes to a place called ‘Eagle Encounters’ in the outskirts of Stellenbosch, where we luckily got the chance to pass by Stellenbosch University -a place we aspire to be one day. at Eagle Encounter , we were entertained by reptiles, birds of different species and some domestic animals too. We were all invited to engage with the animals in different ways such as getting an owl holder and having the owl reach out to you in your hand, getting a closer look and a very detailed perspective. We also got to hold the Boaconstrictor snake, each getting to put it around our neck and each screaming inside from trepidation. The last activity we had at Eagle Encounter was a wonderful bird show, where the Eagles and Owls were taken out of their cages to fly around and demonstrate to us how they snatch food. It was gorgeously petrifying. After Eagle Encounter we hopped onto our bus and drove off all the way to ‘Simonsig’ wine farm, where we were educated about wines, how long it takes to prepare one bottle and and various other information about wine making and distribution. We were taken for a tour into the cellars and restrictedly got a drop taste of wine. We were then welcomed into a beautiful dinning hall with gigantic delicious burgers and fries and a cold bottle of water. Our stomachs couldn’t get enough. After the meal, we had a very influential speaker, who was of high position at the farm, he informed us on time management, goals, career choices and how to make certain in reaching your dreams. He left us in deep thought about our lives and we appreciated that. The Sproede outing was a -place of growth, unlimited smiles and laughter, we learnt so much and it was of immense joy to know that we deserved that opportunity.
